BGCCA Announces CEO Transition

BGCCA announces the planned departure of our longtime CEO Justin Reuter, who has accepted a role with Boys & Girls Clubs of America, parent organization to the Capital Area Club.

Reuter, an Albany County native and graduate of The College of Saint Rose and UAlbany, first ascended to become CEO of the Albany Boys & Girls Club in 2013. In 2019, he oversaw the Albany club’s merger with the Troy Boys & Girls Club. The combined organization has since grown and thrived, achieving a 57% increase in annual revenue.

Today, we operate 22 locations across four school districts, employ over 175 staff members, and serve 900 youth daily.

"After 17 incredible years with this organization, I am honored and excited to accept the position of Director of Organizational Development for the Northeast Division at Boys & Girls Clubs of America,” said Justin Reuter. “I am grateful for the opportunity to take on a new challenge while continuing to support the Boys & Girls Club movement. Working alongside such a dedicated and passionate team in the Capital Area has been an incredibly rewarding experience, and the lessons, memories, and relationships I’ve built here will stay with me forever.”

“We are incredibly proud of Justin and all we have achieved together during his 17 years with the organization,” said Christine Tramontano, Board President of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Capital Area. “Justin’s dedication and leadership have left a lasting impact, and we are excited to build on this strong foundation as we welcome the next generation of leadership. We wish Justin the very best in his new role with the Boys & Girls Clubs of America and look forward to seeing the great work he will continue to accomplish.”

BGCCA’s Chief Development Officer Patrick Doyle will assume the role of interim CEO following Reuter’s departure. Doyle previously led the Troy Boys & Girls Club as its CEO prior to the 2019 merger and has worked closely with Reuter over the past six years.

“The Club has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember, beginning with my time as a Club kid and now having the privilege of helping to lead its future,” said Doyle. “I’m excited to continue advancing our mission and ensuring that our Club remains a place where every young person feels safe, supported, and inspired.”

Justin Reuter’s last day as CEO will be Friday, April 11.

“I know that Patrick and his team will continue to drive the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Capital Area forward with great success,” added Reuter.
