Boys & Girls Clubs of the Capital Area (BGCCA) hosted the annual Donor Breakfast on Thursday, March 27th which showcased our work in Albany & Rensselaer counties.

The event was held at the Terrace at the Water's Edge and was emceed by Oluwasegun Tijani, (pictured) who was Boys & Girls Clubs of the Capital Area's 2024 Youth of the Year, and continues to be a shining example of the positive benefits to Club access.
Olu shared his experiences with the Club and fostered audience comments about other Club memories and thoughts.
RECOGNIZING A BOARD MEMBER

Pictured are BGCCA Board Chair Christine Tramontano, Past Chair April Backus, with the esteemed Bob Foley.
April Backus has been a BGCCA board member for 10 years. April started with The Club as an intern from Siena College and eventually joined our Events Committee, finally becoming a board member in 2015.
April assisted in many roles and served as board chair from 2020-24, guiding the organization through the merger of two Clubs, followed immediately by the Covid-19 pandemic. For her years of service and leadership, we thank April Backus for her dedication, and awarded her the 2025 Bob Foley Board Member Recognition Award.
The Bob Foley Board Member Recognition Award recognizes one current or past board member who has demonstrated their ongoing commitment to the organization, named after board member Bob Foley, who set The Club standard.
AN UNEXPECTED GIFT

Pictured are BGCCA Board Members John Kearney and Tom Quakenbush with BGCCA CEO Justin Rueter.
Tom Quakenbush presented a donation in the name of John Kearney, who was the first Club kid to attend the Albany Club in 1956, in the amount of $10,000. Both Quackenbush and Kearney encouraged everyone to prioritize their support of the Club's critical work.
Thank you to our supporters for making the youth services we provide possible! Great futures start here in the Capital Area!
