Boys & Girls Clubs of the Capital Area (BGCCA) facilitated a field trip to Cooperstown, NY! We visited the Baseball Hall of Fame for a preview of the new permanent exhibit curated through The Black Baseball Initiative, The Souls of the Game: Voices of Black Baseball, which is set to open in 2024. The trip allowed for 20 youth and provided transportation from our Clubhouses and community site, plus tickets, box lunches, and goodie bags!
The Souls of the Game: Voices of Black Baseball is the groundbreaking new exhibition celebrating Black culture through the lens of the great game of baseball. Originally titled Pride and Passion, it opened in 1997 in celebration of the 50th anniversary of Jackie Robinson integrating the white major leagues.
Thank you to the Baseball Hall of Fame staff for sharing this incredible space with our youth!
